feature
- There are currently two sign-up bonuses:
- 10k sign-up bonus: Earn 10,000 Priceline points after spending $1,000 or more within 90 days of account opening. The value is approximately $167.
- $150 sign-up bonus: Get $150 statement credit after you make a purchase.
- You can earn 5x Priceline points on eligible purchases at Priceline, and 1x points on other purchases. The following purchases are considered eligible purchases at Priceline:
- Cruises
- Name Your Own Price
- Express Deals
- Pay Now bookings
- Trip Protection products made at Priceline
- Points can be redeemed for statement credit, gift cards, offset against eligible Priceline purchases, etc.
- Statement Credit can only be used to offset a single purchase of $$25 or more within 120 days. The value of using points in this way is fixed at 1 cent/point.
- If you use it to offset eligible Priceline purchases, every 1,667 points can be redeemed for $25. If you use this card to redeem eligible Priceline purchases & travel purchases, you can also get 10% points. So the point value is 1.5*1.11=1.67 cents/point.
- Cardholders can obtain Priceline VIP Gold member.
- No Foreign Transaction Fee (FTF).
- No annual fee.
shortcoming
- Please note that not all Priceline purchases are considered eligible Priceline purchases.
- When redeeming points, they can only be used to offset purchases within 120 days, and the purchase amount must be greater than or equal to $25. Flexibility is slightly limited.
- If you miss the due date for repayment, you will not be given the points from the previous billing cycle.
Recommended application time
- Barclays places great emphasis on recent Hard Pulls and recommends applying when the number of Hard Pulls within 6 months is less than 6, although this is not a strict rule.
- [6/24 rule] Similar to Chase’s 5/24 rule, Barclays will also reject you if you have 6 or more new accounts within 24 months. However, unlike Chase, Barclays’ rule is not strictly enforced and there are often counter-examples.
- It is recommended that you apply after having a credit history of more than one year.
- Theoretically, only Permanent Residents (green card holders or citizens) can apply for Barclays credit cards. The screenshot below is from the application details. In fact, the bank does not really verify whether you are a green card holder or citizen. Non-green card holders can also apply, but at their own risk.
Summarize
The redemption instructions of this card are really confusing... But from the perspective of spending points and redemption, it shows one thing: this card is really suitable for Priceline consumption, and there is no annual fee and no FTF. Booking hotels with Priceline using Express Deals & Name Your Own Price (Bid) are both great tools for saving money, so friends who travel frequently and don’t care about the official hotel benefits (membership benefits, valid stays and points) when staying in hotels are very worthy of holding this card, just pay attention to the restrictions mentioned above. If you care about the hotel frequent traveler benefits, Priceline’s card is not suitable for you.
